"My name is Amber. I am a 2 ½ year old fawn brindle female. My mother was a
greyhound and my father was a boxer, I was an accidental pup but I am a
wonderful girl who deserves a chance at a happy life. I am very goofy,
funny, affectionate, and playful.

This is Mickie,  my best friend, she is a 3 year old black brindle Staffie
mix, not a pit bull like a lot of people think. She is the sweetest, most
docile dog imaginable. She is a little shy around men at first or people
that yell because she was abused in her past, but she will warm up to you
when she knows she can trust you. She is very soulful, calm, and reserved,
but seeks  reassurance and love.

Mickie and I were  owned by a mean man who beat us, did not feed or care for
us properly, allowed us to have puppies and allowed us to get heartworms. He
finally got tired of us and gave us to a neighbor, who did her best to nurse
us back to health. We have lived with her for almost 3 months, and in that
time, we have put on a lot of weight, gotten all our annual shots, have been
vet checked and found to have no internal parasites, and we are current
(every month on 15th) on out Advantix and Heartgard, so a few more months of
treatment on the 15th, and we should be heartworm free! The neighbor just
can’t keep us anymore because I will dig out of the yard when I am not
supervised, and her other dogs follow me. Mickie does not try to get out. I
always come back, and I am okay if I stay on a tie-out  but she is not home
enough to supervise me at all times. Mickie and I live in the house now, and
go outside to play. We walk very nicely on a leash, we are good with kids,
dogs, cats, and even other small animals. We have no prey drive and would be
excellent pets. Despite our sad past, we have never bitten, growled, or been
aggressive or mean in any way. All we want to do is love you and have a good
forever home with people that will love us.

We have been taught to sleep in a crate at night if you tell us to “go to
bed”, and we can sit, give kisses, and play very well. We will stay off the
furniture if you tell me to get down, but we love to sit in your lap and
cuddle if you let us. Mickie & I are almost 100% potty trained, but if you
are not watching us right after dinner, we may have an accident, we were
always outside dogs, so we never had to learn, but we are very smart and
picking it up now. We know “go outside” “go potty” and “get in the kitchen”
as well.

We have no behavioral problems, have very sweet personalities, and deserve a
fair chance. We are now healthy and have full vet records, but the Heartgard
just takes some time, and the Humane Society won’t take us because we are
currently heartworm positive.  You are our last chance. PLEASE give us a
chance to be adopted, we don’t deserve to die just because we have never
gotten heartworm preventative before now. The neighbor wishes she could keep
us, but we are not getting enough attention and causing behavior problems in
her 2 other dogs.  To give us up this way is breaking her heart but she
feels she has no other choice having put ads in the paper, online, and at
pet stores to no avail.
Please help us, thank you.
